Tabletop Cornhole: How To Have Mini Cornhole Fun For Everyone

I, for one, love to play cornhole outside, but the weather doesn’t always cooperate, or the situation may call for something a little smaller and lighter.

If you still want to enjoy cornhole, but for some reason can’t get yourself outside to toss those bags then tabletop cornhole is just the thing you need in order to get your cornhole fix.

Cornhole goes by many names such as bean bag toss, baggo, bags, sack toss, tailgate toss, and a few others and I will be using these names interchangeably throughout so please don’t get confused.

When searching the internet you may find different items or information based on what name you use during the search an I want to make sure you have the most complete information possible.

Tabletop cornhole is a much smaller version of the normal 2 foot by 4 foot yard game, cornhole. The rules are basically the same and there are many minis sized cornhole games out there to try.

If you want to learn more about mini bean bag toss, cornhole, baggo….ah you get it, then read on and I will show you just how much fun playing indoor cornhole can really be.

Why is it called tabletop cornhole?

Tabletop cornhole is a smaller version of the popular lawn game cornhole. It is played on a smaller board with smaller bags, and is often played indoors.

The name “tabletop cornhole” is self-explanatory. The game is played on a table, and is a smaller version of the traditional cornhole game.

Tabletop cornhole is a great game for people of all ages and skill levels. It is a fun and challenging game that can be enjoyed by both recreational and competitive players. It is also a relatively inexpensive game to get started with, as all you need is a tabletop cornhole set and a small space to play.

Why Choose Tabletop Bean Bag Toss?

My wife and I are avid fans of cornhole and play any time we get a chance, whether at home or out in public. If we see a set of boards, we have to go and toss a few bags around. Well that isn’t always possible due to weather or when we are traveling and space is tight.

Trust me, if we could pack up our 2 kids, our 2 cornhole boards, and still have room for everything else, we would. So why even think about choosing a mini cornhole set?

Well they are much smaller than regular cornhole boards and make it easy to set up on your dining room table, in the living room, or to take with you to a friends house or on a family trip. The possibilities with these things are endless and you can bring cornhole fun with you anywhere.

Now you just have to decide what you want to do, buy a couple sets of mini cornhole for yourself, or go the DIY route and make your own custom set of tabletop cornhole boards that match your personality.

Which Mini Cornhole Boards Are Best?

Now you might be asking yourself “How do I know which mini cornhole set is the best?” Well I have bought a few sets myself and I must say that it is trial and error for the most part but reading the reviews on the products will help.

If you want to ensure that you get a quality set, go the DIY route and take pride in building your own set. If not, I have a few recommendations of good tabletop cornhole boards for you to try.

Coinhole

You can check this game out on Amazon and enjoy indoor cornhole fun in a couple days.

This is a spin on cornhole made by Hasbro where you try to get quarter shaped metal discs into the hole instead of bags. This is kind of a mash up between the classic quarters game and cornhole.

I was first introduced to this game when my wife and I walked by the game in Walmart and decided to try it. Coinhole was actually pretty fun to play later on that night in the house, although it did take some getting used to as it is not a traditional cornhole game.

ACA Official Mini Cornhole Game

If you want a fully functional tabletop cornhole game then this is the one for you. It comes with a scoreboard and all the bags and boards you need for hours of fun in the house without having to brave the weather.

Go check out the set from the American Cornhole Association if you want some high quality boards and accessories. This mini cornhole board set does have one thing I do not like though.

It has a little catapult so to speak, that will fling your cornhole bags for you which brings a whole new type of play to the game. I personally like to throw my bags and not have a little tiny catapult fling them.

If you want a little bit larger tabletop cornhole set then the next one should be just right and allow you to throw bean bags that are a bit larger.

Miniature Cornhole Bean Bag Toss Games Similar To Regulation Play

If you want to have the look and feel of full size cornhole but don’t have the room then this set at Amazon is perfect for you.

You have a set of boards and bags that you can throw just like the original regulation size cornhole boards, but in a smaller package.

Beware that these types normally are not made of real wood and have sticky laminate style panels on them and can wear easily if not properly taken care of.

I have a set similar to this one and it is still fun after over a year of ownership.

Where To Buy Mini Bean Bag Toss Cornhole Games

Amazon is not the only place to go and buy these sets and because of the popularity of cornhole, these variations have spiked and you can find version in your local stores like Walmart, Target, and even Home Depot.

Don’t be afraid to look around and find the set you like the most and has the best reviews. If you want to ensure quality, then go the DIY route and build your own!

What are the mini cornhole rules?

Mini cornhole is a variation of cornhole that is played on a smaller board with smaller bags. The rules of mini cornhole are similar to the rules of cornhole, but there are a few key differences.

Here are the basic rules of mini cornhole:

  • The game is played between two teams of one or two players each.
  • The goal of the game is to score more points than the other team by throwing bags into the hole on the opposite team’s board.
  • The game is played on a board that is 24 inches long by 12 inches wide. The hole is located in the center of the board and is 4 inches in diameter.
  • Each team has four bags. The bags are typically made of soft fabric and are filled with corn or beans.
  • Players take turns tossing their bags onto the opposite team’s board.
  • A bag that goes through the hole is worth 3 points.
  • A bag that lands on the board is worth 1 point.
  • A bag that misses the board or falls off the board is worth 0 points.
  • The first team to score 21 points wins the game.

How To Make Tabletop Cornhole Boards

Building tabletop cornhole boards takes a lot less effort than building full size ones because they take up less space and use less material, the main reason we want them for indoors in the first place.

Since the tabletop versions have so many iterations and many sizes and designs, you can pretty much make your mini bean bag toss set any size you want.

As a general rule, I would stick to around 12 inches in length and about 6 inches in width and make a 2 inch hole.

If you want to sew your own mini cornhole bags, take the lessons in this post we wrote and apply it to the smaller scale bags and make the 2inches x 2 inches using the methods in the post mentioned above.
